mecho: House of Marley product launch

by Chris Page on 25/02/2012

A video I shot and edited at the launch of the Marley family’s audio brand The House of Marley in Melbourne. The video includes interviews recorded in a fairly challenging audio environment as well as footage of performances and the launch party itself.

mecho: State of Design

by Chris Page on 3/08/2011

This video is a teaser for mecho’s coverage of the Melbourne State of Design festival at the Design Made Trade exhibition in Carlton. As part of mecho.com.au’s Melbourne Video Crew we spent the day gathering footage of the exhibition and doing interviews with some of the exhibiters. For this video I operated the first camera as well as editing. More videos from this event are to follow as they are released on the mecho site.

Frankston TV: Natured Kids

by Chris Page on 12/06/2011

Here is a small editing job that I took on for the Natured Kids playgroup. They are an organisation that promotes children going outside and experiencing the natural world through play and fun activities. The client had some raw footage shot on a consumer DV camera and I feel we were able to turn it into a nice neat little video promoting both Natured Kids and the city of Frankston as a whole.

MAKEDO for mecho

by Chris Page on 12/06/2011

Ok, so I know that so far posts on this blog have been somewhat sporadic. But I thought I had better ad another video that I worked on near the start of the year. I think I’ll let the video speak for itself but I will say that shooting it was a lot of fun and the guys at MAKEDO were extremely good to work with. For this video I worked the main camera and edited.

I’m Baaack

by Chris Page on 12/06/2011

Wow, has this blog been neglected or what. I really do apologise internet, the last semester of uni made life incredibly hectic and as a result this blog kind of fell by the wayside. But never fear, as of last Friday, the semester, as well as all of its exams has finished – leaving me free to focus my attention on what I like doing.

Don’t get me wrong, I do really enjoy my uni work. This last semester has been great as it has introduced me to 3D modelling in 3Ds Max and motion graphics using After Effects. Both of these skills I’m sure will prove incredibly useful in the real world.

As well as studying I did still manage to knock out another video for www.mecho.com.au. This was coverage on the ManStyle exhibition held at the National Gallery of Victoria. Have a gander!

Why $500 worth of RAM from RamCity.com.au would be ace

by Chris Page on 11/05/2011

Ever since I replaced my trusty iMac with a Quad Core Mac Pro I’ve been thinking one thing, “needs more RAM”. This computer has been great so far but its going to need a few upgrades to really get it purring along nicely. The 4GB of ram that is currently installed in the computer handles my every day emails and web browsing well enough, but the moment I open up Final Cut Pro and some Adobe Creative Suite applications thats when the slow down really starts. So please RamCity – please grace me with 16GB of glorious DDR3 RAM modules so I can get back to creating awesome multimedia without having to seriously limit the amount of applications I use.

This kit in particular would do nicely, just say’n.

Big in Japan

by Chris Page on 24/02/2011

2010 Kirin Big In Japan curated by ksubi – Melbourne from mecho | the style black book on Vimeo.

Big in Japan was an event put on by ksubi and features Japanese artists and performers. The video team was sent out to cover the event. My role in this video was to edit and do all post production work. As this was a major event the website required the video to have a short tern around time as it needed to be published online as soon as possible in order to still be relevant. As soon as I received the footage I started work on a rough cut. This took an evening to do as I watched all of the footage and contemplated the structure of the video. The final cut was then worked on the following afternoon with myself and producer Nghi Huynh deciding on the cut. So far this edit is the edit that I am most proud of.

Interview with Akira Isogawa

by Chris Page on 24/02/2011

Interview with Akira Isogawa from mecho | the style black book on Vimeo.

This was a fairly simple talking head style interview conducted with renowned fashion designer Akira Isogawa for Australian fashion and lifestyle websitemecho.com.au. My role with this video was simply to edit it down to meet a time limit as well as the usual post production processes such as creating a consistent audio mix and a bit of colour correction and adjustment of brightness/contrast. In future videos we plan to use multiple cameras for interviews, this was shot with a single Sony XDCAM EX 3 with no lighting apart from the light available from the hotel foyer in which it was shot.
